A dream approach to cancer care would have it all — an outstanding multidisciplinary team, easy access to information, emotional support and yes, a bit of fun. That’s Santa Clara’s approach, thanks to Drs. Anita Lee and Minggui Pan.
Together, these innovative physicians developed multidisciplinary cancer care committees, tumor boards, and clinics where teams of specialists meet weekly to assess each patient’s case to develop a coordinated care plan. During the same visit, patients meet separately with each specialist.
Drs. Lee and Pan also launched the highly-informative Comprehensive Cancer Care website, and a program to help survivors live healthy and productive lives after their cancer treatment.
Their efforts have been instrumental in Santa Clara’s recent accreditation as a Comprehensive Breast Care Center by the American College of Surgeons, the first Kaiser Permanente medical center to earn this prestigious designation.
