Anagha Jain, MD, loves meeting patients ‘where they are.’ Early in her tenure as chief, she realized the inconvenience patients experienced not having a vascular surgery service onsite. She spent countless hours working with stakeholders and local and regional physician leaders to improve access to care.
Later, Dr. Jain incorporated plant-based diet guidelines into kidney disease education, inspiring patients to overcome a range of obstacles to adopt healthier eating habits. “We know that health is not just the medicines we give,” she says. “It’s family, diet, lifestyle, and economic circumstances. So many things affect a person’s health, and incorporating that into care is very important to me.”
Dr. Jain is also medical director for the contract dialysis provider DaVita in Redwood City. The center was recently awarded a 5-star CMS quality rating—a testament to her passion for elevating quality of care, not only for Kaiser Permanente members but for all dialysis patients in her community.
