Laura Eberhard, MD

Assistant Physician-in-Chief, KP San Rafael

“Leaders create other leaders and that is exactly what Dr. Eberhard has done. She is a gifted communicator and a knowledgeable mentor. We are incredibly fortunate to have a seasoned leader of her caliber in our medical center.”
-Naveen Kumar, MD, physician-in-chief, KP San Rafael

Laura Eberhard, MD, personifies the leadership qualities of action and compassion. Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, she has been central to KP San Rafael’s COVID response, leading town halls, coordinating with county public health and community partners, and serving as a resource for physicians and staff. Dr. Eberhard took on these crucial roles while maintaining her clinical practice caring for our critically ill patients in the ICU.

Once the vaccine became available, Dr. Eberhard partnered with the Marin County Office of Education and the Department of Public Health, bringing KP physicians and staff to vaccinate 2,500 educators and school staff members. This effort helped the county be one of the first to get teachers and kids back in the classroom. “It was a real source of joy for our clinicians to be able to do something so positive, ”Dr. Eberhard says. “It was very emotional for both the teachers and the KP staff.” Her overall leadership in the vaccine effort helped Marin become the most vaccinated county in California.

Throughout her career, Dr. Eberhard has offered compassion, wisdom, and courage to her teams, along with unwavering support. She values community and connection – both within and outside of KP, and gets great joy from seeing her colleagues happy in their professional practice and balanced in their lives.
