Wendy Huber, MD

Dermatology, South Sacramento

Latex Allergy Prevention Program

In 1995, Dr. Huber met with a small group of Kaiser Permanente health care professionals who, like her, were becoming concerned about latex allergies among health care providers and patients. With Dr. Huber’s involvement, the group developed and promoted a plan for how to create a safer clinical and hospital environment for staff, as well as for patients who are latex allergic. This plan has been implemented throughout California and adopted by other Kaiser Permanente divisions.

Dr. Huber currently chairs the National Latex Alternative Products Cross-Functional Group, which has created standards for unpowdered latex and synthetic exam and surgical gloves.
