Deborah Gould, MD
“Her leadership shows a passion for her work and a commitment to do the right thing for every member.”
Deborah Gould, MD, has shown long-standing, remarkable leadership in her roles as Chief of Pediatrics, Chair of Regional Chiefs, and Assistant Physician-in-Chief.
She excels in facilitating collaboration across disciplines and has forged strong, productive relationships between the Medical Group and her Kaiser Foundation Hospital and Health Plan (KFH/HP) colleagues. Above all, her leadership shows a passion for her work and a commitment to do the right thing for our patients.
As Chair of Regional Chiefs of Pediatrics from 1999 to 2003, she united her colleagues and numerous KFH/HP leaders to design and implement a new structure to improve the quality of care for Northern California’s pediatric inpatient and subspecialty services. She cites her work in the pediatric redesign as the accomplishment in which she takes the most pride and pleasure.
As Assistant Physician-in-Chief, her skills at fostering collaboration across the continuum of care have been invaluable in leading the East Bay’s work in many areas, including patient safety, inpatient quality, risk management, and compliance, all in partnership with KFH/HP. Her efforts to break down silos, encourage transparency, and engage everyone in process improvement, have led to successful regulatory surveys ever since she assumed her APIC role in 2007.
“My goal is to bring the appropriate people togetherat the table to solve problems and move things forward,” says Dr. Gould. “I want to make sure we’re doing it right.
